At the February meeting, Senate approved the following change to the Rules of
Senate concerning the election of the Vice-Chair of Senate. The Vice-Chair shall be
elected annually by and from the members of Senate, and shall sit as a member of
the Senate Committee on Agenda and Rules. In no case shall a Vice-Chair serve
more than two consecutive terms.
The Senate Nominating Committee has submitted nominations for this election as
follows to be conducted by Senate at its meeting of April 5, 1993.

Under Senate Regulations any Senator who wishes to add
nominations to those shown below may do so by notifying the
Secretary of
Senate in writing of such nominations. Nominations
must be received by the Secretary of Senate no later than 4:30 p.m.
Friday, April 3, 1993.
Nominations received after
that time, and nominations from the floor
cannot be accepted. Senators making such nominations must ensure
in advance that the nominee is willing to stand for election.
VICE-CHAIR OF SENATE
One Senator to be elected annually by
and from the members of Senate. Normally
the Vice-Chair should be elected for the period June
1,
1993 to May 31, 1994 (in order
to
coincide with the terms of office of Senators). However, in the first instance the
election for the Vice-Chair will be for term of office from date of election to May 31,
1994.
