Subject: New Student Intake Targets for 1995/96

Action undertaken by the Senate Committee on Academic Planning and the
Senate Committee on Enrollment Management and Planning, gives rise to the
following motion:
Motion: ?
"that Senate approve and recommend approval to the Board
of Governors, as set forth in S.94-59 that the University
propose to increase its enrollment by 450 funded FTE
undergraduate students in the 1995/96 fiscal year."
Recommendations 1 and 2 of the SCIMO report call on the University to consider
Increases in undergraduate enrollment in a more organized, consultative and
timely fashion. Consequently, SCEMP consulted the Faculties and forwarded a
recommendation to SCAP to expand the University's funded undergraduate
enrollment by 450 FTE in 95/96. If accepted by Senate and the Board of
Governors, this request will be forwarded to the Ministry as our request for
funded enrollment increases for 95/96.
It is the Intent of SCEMP and SCAP to continue the past practice of bringing
recommendations on new student targets by semester and admission group to
Senate In February after the University has a preliminary Indication from the
provincial Government as to the level of F'TE enrollments they are prepared to
fund.
Senate should note that as a result of the Fall 1994 enrollment being higher than
predicted,
