SENATE COMMITTEE ON ACADEMIC PLANNING
ANNUAL REPORT -
1993 -
INTRODUCTION
The Senate Committee on Academic
Planning
held 16 meetings in 1993. Most
recommendations of SCAP go forward to Senate for information or further action.
Therefore this report presents in summary form the major actions of the Committee.
PROGRAMS APPROVED FOR FURTHER PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT
When a new program is being considered, it is expected to be forwarded to SCAP for review
at an early stage so that information about the program can assist in the planning process.
This can also prevent the development of program plans which are considered beyond the
scope and mission of the University. This initial approval process is entitled "approval for
further planning and development". The following program received approval to proceed
with further planning and development:
Asia-Canada Program

Master of Publishing - program being redeveloped.
Department of Earth Sciences - awaiting the allocation of resources before being
implemented.
Minor in First Nations Studies (main campus) - awaiting the allocation of resources before
being implemented.
CURRICULUM REVISIONS
SCAP received and forwarded material on a variety of curriculum revisions which had been
thoroughly reviewed and approved by the Senate Committee on Undergraduate Studies and
the Senate Graduate Studies Committee.
Faculty of Applied Sciences: 4 sets of submissions from SCUS, and 3 from SGSC
Faculty of Arts: 17 sets of submissions from SCUS, and 3 from SGSC
Faculty of Business Administration: I submission from SCUS
Faculty of Education: 1 submission from SCUS, and I from SGSC
Faculty of Science: 3 sets of submissions from SCUS.

ENROLMENT MANAGEMENT (SCEMP)

SCEMP recommended targets for undergraduate admissions for 1993/94 which were
approved by SCAP and Senate based on the funded enrolment projections. In June and
October 1993, SCEMP recommended and SCAP approved revisions to the enrolment targets
for the Fall '93 semester and Spring '94 semester.
