The TSSU has formally requested that two seats on Senate be established for the
members of the university's non-faculty sessional teaching staff.

This request by TSSU for representation on Senate was brought to the attention of
SCAR at today's meeting and discussed. The following action was taken by SCAR:
Moved by L. Boland, seconded by P. Percival
"to recommend to Senate that no action be taken on the request for
representation on Senate for non-faculty sessional teaching staff'
Motion Carried
Dr. J. Munro requested that his abstention be recorded
The individuals among the University's non-faculty sessional teaching staff, by
definition, do not have continuing appointments.
SCAR's action does not preclude the formal consideration of the proposal by Senate,
provided that the matter be placed as a notice of motion before Senate, if it is brought
forward by a Senator and duly seconded.
