? SIMON FRASER UNIVERSITY
Memorandum
To: ?
Senate Committee on Agenda and Rules
From: ?
W. R. Heath
Registrar and Secretary of Senate
Date: ?
January 28, 1994
Subject:
Composition and Terms of Reference
- Presidential Search Committee
The following motion was approved by Senate (S.93-65) and recommended to the
Board of Governors:
"that a joint
ad hoc
committee, consisting of two Senators elected by and
from Senate and two Board members elected by and from the Board, be
charged with reviewing the composition and terms of reference of the
Presidential Search Committee. Any proposed changes would be
recommended to both bodies"
The Board of Governors subsequently approved the following motion:
"that a joint
ad hoc
committee, consisting of two Senators elected by and
from Senate and two persons selected by the Board, be charged with
reviewing the composition and terms of reference of the Presidential
Search Committee. Any proposed changes would be recommended to
both bodies."
In considering the motion approved by Senate, the Board discussed the desirability of
selecting its two members rather than to have them elected by and from the Board.
Since the membership of the Board has changed considerably, the Board wished to
have the freedom to draw on the experience of former members in considering its
appointments to this
ad hoc
committee.
SCAR has considered the change approved by the Board and recommends its
approval by Senate.
