SIMON FRASER UNIVERSITY
MEMORANDUM
To: ?
SCUS
?
From: Ron Heath
Registrar
Subject: ?
Minors
at University College
?
Date: ?
October 31, 1995
of the Fraser Valley
When the initial agreements with the University College of the Fraser Valley were
established with the Faculty of Arts, the degree required the completion of two
Extended Minors. (Extended Minors comprise the lower division requirements for
a Major and the upper division requirements for a Minor.) Recently, at the request
of UCFV, the University approved two majors (both already were being offered as
Extended Minors); a request to offer Majors in the three remaining Faculty of Arts
subject areas is under review.
S ?
Given the structure of the Extended Minors, it will be relatively easy for some
students who have been working towards the degree with two Extended Minors to
actually complete the requirements for a Major in one of the subjects and a Minor in
the other subject. Since the requests for approval of Majors are either approved or
in progress, we should also consider granting approval for Minors.
Motion:
"That SCUS approve and recommend to Senate the approval of Minors in those
subjects that have been approved with Extended Minors in the BA Program at the
UCFV".
