ANNUAL REPORT - 1994
The Senate Committee on Academic Planning held 16 meetings in 1994. Most recommendations of
SCAP go forward to Senate for information or further action. Therefore this report presents in
summary form the major actions of the Committee.
PROGRAMS APPROVED FOR FURTHER PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT
When a new program is being considered, it is expected to be forwarded
to
SCAP for review at an
early stage so that information about the program can assist in the planning process. This can also
prevent the development of program plans which are considered beyond the scope and mission of the
University. This initial approval process is entitled "approval for further planning and development".
The following programs received approval to proceed with further planning and development:

CURRICULUM REVISIONS
SCAP
received and forwarded material on a variety of curriculum revisions which had been
thoroughly reviewed and approved by the Senate Committee on Undergraduate Studies and the Senate
Graduate Studies Committee. The following curriculum revisions were considered:
Faculty of Applied Sciences:
4 submissions from SCUS, and 2 from
SGSC
Faculty of Arts:
18 submissions from SCUS, and 3 from
SGSC
Faculty of Business Administration: 1 submission from
SGSC
Faculty of Education:
3 submissions from SCUS, and 3 from
SGSC
Faculty of Science:
6 submissions from SCUS, and 1 from
SGSC
ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT (SCEMP)
SCENT recommended targets for undergraduate admissions for
1994/95
which were approved by
SCAP and Senate based on the funded enrollment projections. In June and October 1994, SCENT
recommended and SCAP approved revisions to the enrollment targets for the Fall 1994 semester and
Spring
1995
semester. SCENT also made recommendations to SCAP concerning direct admission
to the School of Kinesiology, enrollment limits in the Faculty of Business Administration, and the
admission of new international students; these matters were also approved by SCAP and Senate.
