International Undergraduate Student Exchange Committee (JUSEC)
The International Undergraduate Student Exchange Committee selected 46
students for participation in exchange programs outside Canada during 1995.

J. Zaslove, P. McFetridge, H. Pabel, R. Martin (Secretary, non-voting) and R.
Heath (ex-officio).

IUSEC recommended amendments to the
International Field School Guidelines
and
the
Field School Participant Code
which were approved by SCIA. A
Faculty
Member Field School Participant Code
was set aside for future discussion.

Temasek Polytechnic: Experience Asia Fellowship Program
SCIA recommended the "Experience Asia" fellowship program with Temasek
Polytechnic (Singapore) to the President.

CIDA University Partnerships in Cooperation and Development Proposals
SCIA reviewed and recommended submission to CIDA of the following two
University Partnerships in Cooperation and Development (UPCD) proposals,
each accompanied by a budget request of $750,000:
(a)
Philippines Distance Education Project,
submitted by C. Yerbury, Director,
Distance Education.
(b)
University/Industry Technology Transfer Project,
Universidad de
Concepcion, Chile, submitted by the Dean of Science's Office.

CJDA Institutional Cooperation and Development Services Division (ICDS)
SCIA reviewed and recommended acceptance by the President of a successful
$75,000 project application in Cuba -

Havana: Human Resource
Development in Small Business and Ecotourism,

Detailed briefing materials and follow-up discussions were held with all new
SCIA members.

South Pacific Field School: Archaeology
A proposal from the Department of Archaeology to conduct a South Pacific Field
School was unanimously approved.
