Calendar Change for the Ph.D. Field Exam
To replace this sentence in the SFTJ calendar (page 308)
FROM
The student may choose either to a) sit a four hour exam (closed book), or
b) take home the examination question and complete it within 7 days.
TO
The student will take home the examination question and complete the
paper within three days.

Rationale
Students choosing the 4-hour option might inadvertently be judged by
criteria more fairly applying to the 7-day option. Students choosing this
option are likely to have domestic circumstances that make 7 days of quiet
impossible to arrange. Students could answer the question adequately
within three days and three days without interruption are more easy to
organize than seven.
