Amending Rules of Senate regarding Elections

Having discussed the following changes with the members of SCAR, I recommend
the following amendments to the Rules of Senate, Section IV. Elections, M. General
Regulations for Elections Conducted at Senate. Amendments to the Rules of
Senate require written notice at a regular meeting of Senate prior to the meeting at
which a vote is taken on the proposed amendment. This item shall be placed on
the May Senate agenda as a Notice of Motion, and shall be placed on the June Senate
agenda for action.

the number of vacancies to be filled shall be invalid.

In elections at Senate if there is a tied vote
between two candidates for one
position, the winner shall be determined by a toss of the coin conducted by
the Registrar at a time set by the Registrar and in the presence of the affected
candidates or their representatives. Where there are more than two

candidates tied for one position,
there shall be an additional ballot to choose
between the persons concerned.
If approved at the June meeting, I recommend these changes take effect for the
committee voting which will take place at the same Senate meeting.
