CALENDAR CHANGE FORM
Cancel the General Minor in the Faculty of Education
RATIONALE:
The General minor (14 upper division credits -8 in Education) can only be used toward a
B.Ed. degree, but to complete a B.Ed. a student must complete 24 upper division
Education credits which makes the minor redundant (i.e., any student who completes the
B.Ed. automatically completes the requirements for the General minor). The rationale for
the specific minors in education (e.g., early childhood, learning disabilities, etc.) is to
recognize and encourage a specific area of specialization—the general minor does not
guarantee any particular specialization.
