Action undertaken by the Senate Committee on Enrollment Management and

Planning and the Senate Committee on Academic Planning gives rise to the

following motion:

Motion:

"that Senate approve and recommend to the Board of Governors, as set

forth in S.00 - 26 to limit the number of international students, excluding

exchange students, who are admitted into undergraduate programs at

SFU to 7% of all admissions in the academic years 2000/01,2001/02 and

2002-03"

Admissions to SFU

At its March 1997 meeting, Senate approved a motion from the Senate

Committee on Academic Planning to extend the 7

limit on admission of

international students to SFU for a period of three academic years (1997/98 to

1999/00). The attached table shows the actual number of international

students who registered in each semester throughout this period.

The Senate Committee on Enrollment Management and Planning met

on February 2, 2000 and agreed that the 7% limit should be extended for

another three years.

"That SCAP approve and recommend approval to Senate and to the Board

to limit the number of international students, excluding exchange

students, who are admitted into undergraduate programs at SFIJ to 7% of

all admissions in the academic years 2000/01, 2001/02, and 2002/03 ."
