Program and Research Centre
At its December 4, 2000 meeting, Senate was asked to approve the Senate Committee
on University Priorities' recommendations for areas of priority action for the
Gerontology Program and Gerontology Research Centre arising from its recent
external review.
During that meeting Senate approved items 2, 3 and 4 of the priority action items
recommended by SCUP but referred item 1 regarding streamlining of student intake
into the Diploma Program back to SCUP for further consideration.
At its February 7, 2001 meeting, SCUP revisited its recommendation and Dr. Gloria
. ?
Gutman attended SCUP to speak to the issue. SCUP discussed with Dr. Gutman the
impact of streamlining on the Master's program and was advised that additional
administrative resources have been provided to Gerontology to assist in workload
issues within the unit.
After serious deliberation, SCUP unanimously concluded to withdraw its
recommendation that Gerontology work toward a single intake of students for the
Diploma Program.
