determined and approved by the Senate Committee on University Priorities and I am pleased

Mandate
The committee is tasked to provide a report to SCUP by May 2002 with the expectation
that the report will be presented to the June meeting of Senate. The committee is to
consider the following issues:
• Evaluate the academic merit of the existing TechBC undergraduate programs;
• Propose an interim administrative structure for the SFU at Surrey programs;
• Propose the names for the degrees to be awarded to those successfully completing
the SFU at Surrey programs.

SFU at Surrey Long-term Academic Planning Committee
Mandate
The committee is to provide a report to SCUP by Spring 2003 with the expectation that a
report will subsequently go forward to Senate. The committee is tasked to provide a
long-term academic plan for SFU at Surrey and will consider the following issues:
• Identify program synergies between TechBC and SFU program offerings in
consultation with the Short-term Academic Committee;
• Provide recommendations on the integration of TechBC and SFU program
offerings, academic policies and infrastructure in consultation with the Short-term
Academic Committee;
• Develop a strategic plan and timelines for future program offerings at SFU at
Surrey;
• Evaluate the use of alternative pedagogical tools and methods;
• Propose a long-term operational and administrative structure for SFU at Surrey.
