Attached is a proposal from the Faculty of Science and the Department of Earth Sciences
for a Certificate Program in Forestry Geoscience.
The Senate Committee on University Priorities reviewed the proposal at its
February 6, 2002 meeting. The proposal was unanimously approved.
Once approved by Senate, the proposal is to be submitted to the Board of Governors.
Motion
That Senate approves and recommends to the Board of Governors the proposal
for a Certificate in Forestry Geoscience as outlined in
S. 0-21"

CERTIFICATE IN FORESTRY GEOSCIENCE
This program provides students with an opportunity to obtain a specialization in
geoscience courses having direct relevance to careers in the forestry industry. It is
directed, in the first place, to undergraduates taking a major in Earth Science or Physical
Geography. Credits applied to this certificate may not be applied to another SFU
certificate or diploma.
Program Requirements
The certificate requires the completion of 30-32 credit hours of required course work and
electives as follows.
