In accordance with Item 5 of the Terms of Reference for the Senate Committee on

University Priorities:

"To be responsible for the operation of the system of external review of academic units

set out in the Senate Guidelines for External Reviews."

I am writing to advise Senate that four external reviews will be initiated for the

2003/2004 academic year including:

• Department of Earth Sciences (first time review of the Department, previously

postponed from 2001/2002 and 2002/2003)

• School of Kinesiology

• Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry (first time review of the

Department)

• Secwepemc Cultural Education Society (SCES) Program (first time review of the

Program)

For your information, the Department of English external review, previously scheduled

for this upcoming year, has been postponed to the 2004/2005 academic year.
