Liljedahl, Peter
My name is Peter Liljedahl and I am a PhD student in the faculty of education
specializing in Mathematics Education. My main area of interest is in the extralogical
processes of mathematics - insight, intuition, creativity, etc. Before entering into the
doctoral program I was a practicing high school teacher.
For the last two years I have been an alternate on the Senate Appeal Board and as a
result I have come to appreciate the role that such committees play in the affairs of
university governance. I value the fact that the voice of students (graduate and
undergraduate) can be heard - and is listened to - through such a process. As such, I
would like to further add my voice to that of CRUA.
Placonouris, Gregory
I am in the second semester of my M.A. candidacy in the Department of English at SFU.
I graduated from SFU in October 1994 with a First Class Honors B.A.
During my B.A. I got the SFU English Student Union going again and managed to help
get a common room re-opened. I also helped form the Humanities Student Union. With
Aaron Vidaver I helped create the Charles Watts Memorial Library as well as
continuing the work of the Kootenay School of Writing (KSW).
I am currently a T.A., I am taking two courses and (very thankfully) I have been granted
a Work Study position with Dr. Roy Miki.
I am 31 years old, I have been teaching ESL for nine years and I have some experience
as a Secondary School teacher in the K-12 system.
Waldern, Barbara
I, Barbara Waldern, am a student in the Masters of Arts, Anthropology Research Project
program. I received a Bachelor of Arts and a Post-Baccalaureate in Social Policy Issues
at SFU. I am from Bumaby.I have worked in Teaching English as a Second Language
and in Federal Government services between degrees. While in my MA program, I have
worked as a TA, TM and RA, presented papers at four academic conferences and
remained active in my department graduate student caucus. Also, I was an Alternate
Grad Rep on the Senate Graduate Studies Committee in 2000-2001.

It is important to have a student perspective on university admissions appeals. A fellow
student can appreciate the extenuating circumstances in which some student applicants
find themselves in, and help to make a just evaluation of their appeals.
Thank you for considering me as a nominee for the CRUA Alternate Graduate
Representative position.
Wu, Shufang
I am Shufang Wu, a M.Sc. candidate in Computing Science. I am interested in the
practices of public policies. I have some related training and working experiences:
