SCUS Terms of Reference
I recommend that the terms of reference for the Senate Committee on Undergraduate
Studies be revised to include 2 new representatives:
• A representative from the Faculty of Health Sciences, as a voting member, and
• The Director, University Curriculum, as an ex officio member.
The Faculty of Health Sciences should be represented on SCUS. It is in the early stages of
undergraduate curriculum development, so now would be an appropriate time to add a FHS
representative to SCUS.
The Director, University Curriculum is a new position, focusing currently on managing the
changes flowing from the Undergraduate Curriculum Implementation project. At this stage of
implementation, curriculum revisions resulting from this project are being discussed and vetted at
SCUS. As we move beyond the implementation date of the new requirements in Fall 2006, some
responsibilities for ongoing maintenance of the requirements will gradually shift to SCUS, and as
such, a role there for the Director is appropriate.
