Internal Policies Adopted by the REB
i)

That an honorarium of $200.00 be paid to external reviewers for their services.
ii ?
Projects that involve children who are wards of the court must contain signed
approvals of the protocol by the appropriate legal authority who is in loco
parentis.
iii) ?
When research is in collaboration with an external university, the (external)
University must agree to comply with all regulations of the Tr-Council Policy of
Canada. The REB requires that the research has been reviewed and approved by
SFU's Research Ethics Board. The external University must agree to comply
with all requirements and requests of SFU's Research Ethics Board regarding the
conduct of the Research.

iv) ?
Amendments to non-minimal risk projects, which are designated by the DORE as
minimal risk amendments, may be approved by the DORE for implementation
and are subject to ratification by the REB at its next regular meeting.
V)
Protocols involving participation of persons who are aged 14 years or younger
must contain approvals from the parents or legal guardians of the participants.
Exception to this requirement may be made by the REB on a case-by-case basis.
vi) ?
When protocols require participants to comment on matters related to the agency
or company that employ the participants, the consent protocol must include
whether the company or agency has a) given permission,
b) denied permission or c) not been approached for permission.
