John, the University has been negotiating with the Cassamarca Foundation for
over two years for the creation of
an
endowed position in Italian Studies. Our
original intention was to create a Chair in Latin Humanism, but we were
unsuccessful in securing the requisite support. Instead, through the generosity
of the Cassamarca Foundation, we have established a fund for a proposed
Lectureship in Italian Studies, to be matched by the Burnaby Mountain
Endowment Fund.
We are writing to seek approval from SCUP for the attached Terms of Reference
for the Dino De Poli Lectureship in Italian Studies. We see this position
providing critical support for a newly proposed certificate in
.
