Committee to Review the Research Ethics Policy R 20.01

The Senate Committee on Agenda

and Rules met today and considered the following matter.

At the last Senate Meeting, Senator Felix Breden was elected by acclamation as one of the faculty

members to sit on the Committee to Review the Research Ethics Policy R 20.01. Following the

March Senate meeting, Dr. Breden reminded me that he is a member of the Research Ethics

Board, and as such, he probably wasn't eligible to stand for election to this committee. After

consideration and consultation, I agree with Dr. Breden, and his election to this review committee

has therefore been cancelled.

Two vacancies for Faculty members now exist on the Committee to Review the Research Ethics

Policy. The Senate Committee on Agenda and Rules proposes the following motions to Senate.

That

the membership of the Committee to Review the Research Ethics Policy R

20.01 be modified such that the named individuals from the School of

Kinesiology and the Department of Psychology, be replaced by the

Chair/Director or designate from these academic units; and

SCAR be given delegated authority to make any further amendments to the

membership of this committee.

If this action is approved by Senate, Dr. Daniel Weeks will stand for election to this committee in

the category of Faculty Senator, and Dr. Marilyn Bowman will be appointed as the designate of

the Chair of the Department of Psychology.
