January 18, 2005 gives rise to the following motion:
That Senate approve a change in criteria for admission to undergraduate programs

Acting under delegated authority, at its January 18, 2005 meeting, SCUS approved the
following curriculum revision in the Faculty of Business Administration:
a)
Change of credit hours and prerequisite for BUS 329
b)
Approval of BUS 130 as a B-Soc
c)
Temporary withdrawal of BUS 481

Current criteria:
Category 4- some SFU and other post-secondary courses
Students will be selected competitively based on a grade point average which will be
a combination of grades earned at SFU and other institutions.
Proposed change:

Students will be selected competitively based on a grade point average which will be
a combination of grades earned at SFU and other institutions.
Note: minimum SFU
cgpa of 2.25 required.
Rationale:
If a student has a high enough entrance average from college when they are admitted to
SFU, their combined average (college + SFU) can be high enough to meet the UG
Program admission gpa even if his/her SFU cgpa is below our maintenance gpa of 2.25.
This means that we immediately send the student a warnin g
letter about potential removal
from the BBA Major if their SFU cgpa does not rise above 2.25. The addition of the new
note will prevent this from happening.
