I am a second-year Gerontology M.A. student and I am seeking election by SFU
Senate to serve as a Graduate Student Member of the Senate Graduate Studies
Committee.
I received my B.A. (Honours) degree in Psychology from Queen's University in
2003. While in Kingston, I sat on the Board of Directors of the Alzheimer Society of
Kingston for one year. I also served for two years as a Vice Coordinator of a volunteer-
based community organization. I then completed my B.A. in Gerontology at McMaster
University in 2005 before moving to Vancouver.
I am very involved with student committees here at SFU. I have served as the
Department of Gerontology representative to the Simon Fraser Student Society (SFSS)
Graduate Issues Committee and as acting Teaching Support Staff Union Steward. I am
presently the Gerontology Graduate Representative to the SFSS Student Forum and the
Chair of the Gerontology Graduate Caucus.
My current committee involvement external to SFU includes my roles as Board
member of the Caregivers Association of BC and Vice-President of the Canadian
Association on Gerontology - Association Canadienne de Gérontologie Student
Connection - Connexion Etudiante. I also represent SFU students interested in aging
issues to the Gerontological Society of America in my capacity as Campus
Representative. ?

If elected, I will bring my experience, dedication to university issues, and drive to
represent graduate student interests to the position of Graduate Student Member on the
Senate Graduate Studies Committee.
