Changes to Senate Committee on International Activities

FOR INFORMATION

1.

In September, 2006, changes to a variety of Senate committees resulting from the

changes in Student Services were adopted by the Senate Committee on Agenda and

Rules (SCAR) and reported to Senate for information.

After discussion and further consideration; Nello Angerilli (Associate VP Students

and International) and Jon Driver (Dean of Graduate Studies), have determined that

the change to the Senate Committee on International Activities (SCIA) is not

required. SCAR has now approved the return to the original membership as

follows:

Earlier this Fall, Dr. Driver forwarded a recommendation from SCIA to remove

Procedures item 3, which states:

Proposals shall be accompanied by verification that the prospective parties to the

activity have been given a copy of the University Policy on International Activities.

In requesting the removal of this item, SCIA indicated that it was not necessary if the

proposed activity conformed to the relevant policies.

SCAR approved this revision as an editorial change to the Procedures of SCIA.

Both items 1 and 2 are forwarded to Senate for information.
