Subject: Name and calendar change
?
Date:
?
23 June, 2008
I write to request a relatively minor change to the name and calendar description of the
Behavioural Ecology Research Group, a Schedule A Centre.
By unanimous vote, the members have decided to change the name of our research centre to the
Evolutionary and Behavioural Ecology Research Group.
This change reflects an ongoing
evolution in the emphasis and direction of the discipline itself.
The name change will require only a slight alteration to our calendar description, indicated in
bold below:
"The research group was formally established in 1989 to pursue basic research in the field
of
evolutionary and
behavioral ecology; to maintain and further develop an internationally
recognized student training centre in
evolutionary and
behavioral ecology, and related
areas of inquiry; and to provide a service to government, industry and other organizations
to tackle basic and applied problems in
evolutionary and
behavioral ecology through
collaborative research. Members are drawn from the Departments of Biological Sciences,
Psychology, and the School of Resource Management."
However, in addition, given the departure from SFU of Dr. K. Rothley, our only member from
Resource Mangement, the last line should read
"..Biological Sciences and Psychology".
I hope these changes are minor enough that they can be approved expeditiously, without the full
Senate process, so that this can be completed before my term of office expires at the end of
August. Thanks for your assistance and cooperation.
