following curriculum revision effective Fall 2013:
|i] Addition of Upper Division residency requirements to the Business Minor Program
SIMON PRASES UNIVERSITY
engaging the world
Item 1
Calendar Change, Undergraduate Department, Beedie School of Business
Effective: Fall 2013 Calendar
SCUS 13-04(1
Summary of Changes:
•
Addition of upper division residency requirements to the Business Minor Program
Rationale:
Currently, students pursuinga minor must complete at least seven upper division units toward their
minor in courses at Simon Fraser University. In order to uphold the integrity of the Business Minor
Program the inclusion of more specific residency requirements have been added. The increase to
a
minimum of eight upper division units completed at
SFU ensures that exactly half of the upper division
Business units required for
the minor are completed at SFU. This upholds the integrity of the program
should equivalent courses be further developed at other institutions that students may pursue (ie.
transfer, exchange, etc), in addition to those that already exist.
The following program will be affected by these changes:

Admission Requirements
Aspecific number of seats will be allocated each year
to the business minor program. Students who have
completed the five lower division requirement courses
will apply to the business minor program, and will be
selected competitively based on the grades achieved in
the five lower division required courses, with a
maximum of two repeated courses on those five lower
division courses. Note that a minimum Simon Fraser
University cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of
2.4 is required.
Students must have completed each lower division
required course with a minimum C-grade.
Grade Requirements
In addition to normal university grade point average
requirements, the Beedie School of Business requires a
minimum 2.40 cumulative
grade point average (CGPA)
for entry into all 300 and 400 division business courses.
For a
course to be accepted as fulfilling a lower division
requirement, or for a core course to be accepted in a
student's program in business, a student must have
obtained a minimum grade of C- (C minus).
