COURSE DESCRIPTION
EDUC 471 - 4 will examine the theoretical, practical and conceptual complexity of curriculum
development within a contemporary educational and social context. The course will pay special
attention to the historical, social and political forces that influence curriculum development
including class, gender, race and corporate dynamics. Given its current popularity in education,
the discourse surrounding "skill talk" will also be examined to better understand its ideological,
conceptual and pedagogical implications. Working in groups, we will also embark on a
collaborative effort to develop the procedural and content knowledge required for successful
curriculum development. Other curriculum areas may be explored based on student interest and
suggestions.

2) In-class group article review (20%)
