DESCRIPTION:
This course is designed to introduce students to current issues in art education,
and to assist them in developing skills of effective art curriculum planning and
classroom management.
OBJECTIVES:
1.
To develop an understanding of nature, purposes, and methods of art
education.
2.
To experience a variety of art media appropriate for primary, intermediate, and
graduation programs.
3.
To enable students to plan art programs which contribute to children's learning
in art and encourage their artistic and aesthetic growth.
COURSE CONTENT:
Rationale for art in education; Children's artistic and aesthetic development;
Approaches to art education; Art curriculum planning and delivery; Art
appreciation and criticism; Assessment and evaluation; Integrated curriculum
and the visual arts; Multicultural art education; Art classroom management and
safety.
