DESCRIPTION
The course is an introduction to the roles and applications of computers in education,
and to problems of computer uses in the classroom. This session is suitable to
teachers who are novice computer users. The following topics are covered:
-Use of computers in the classroom: concerns and skills
'Use of applications software
'Use of instructional software
'Integration of software into the curriculum
'Programming applications in the curriculum
'Electronic communications in education
COURSE ACTIVITIES
Course activities will consist of lectures and discussions, demonstrations, readings,
team projects and laboratory work.
EVALUATION
• term paper on selected computer applications in the classroom.
• class presentation evaluating a piece of software, demonstrating its uses in the
classroom or an educational setting.
Short tests related to readings, discussions and demonstrations.
Laboratory exercises demonstrating computer operating skills.
