PREREQUISITE:
60 hours of credit
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Education 464 is a course for students who are interested in exploring issues and research related
to the education of young children. Although this course is open to all students with 60 hours of
credit, a basic knowledge of child development is desirable.
OBJECTIVES:
1.
To develop an understanding of the historical and philosophical underpinnings to the
theory and practice of Early Childhood Education.
2.
To examine current issues related to Early Childhood Education
3.
To examine current research related to Early Childhood Education
4. To develop child observation skills and strategies.
GRADING PROCEDURE
Final grades will be based on a variety of sources that may include some or all of the following:
• Attendance and class participation
• weekly reading and journal entries
• in-class presentations
'child observation assignment
• research paper
