EDUCATIONAL USES OF COMPUTERS
The course introduces various types of applications of computers in education and requires the
students to learn through reading, interacting with others, and working on a computer. Different
ways that computers might influence learning and teaching are examined. The following topics
are covered:
• Approaches and issues in using computers in the classroom
• Evaluation of educational software
• Methods of integrating software into the curriculum to address students' learning needs
• Basics of using productivity software and introductory programming
• Communications and conferencing via computers
• Multimedia in the classroom

Equipment
Almost all the requirements for completing this course involve the use of computers, e-mail, and
electronic conferencing. Because of the course software requirements, the computer must be one of
the following systems:
MAC: System 7.0, 8Mb RAM, 30Mb free disk space, modem (9600 baud minimum, 14.4 baud
recommended), unrestricted telephone line (your home phone), and a printer.
PC: WIN 3.1, 8Mb RAM, 30Mb free disk space, modem (9600 baud minimum, 14.4 baud
recommended), unrestricted telephone line (your home phone), and a printer.
