DESCRIPTION:
This course will introduce students to the foundations of art education that will prepare
them in teaching art to Primary and Intermediate levels (K-7).
OBJECTIVES:
1.
Students will participate in
a
minimum of six studio processes and will produce
individual works based on this experience.
2.
Students will complete sketchbook assignments based on the focus element for each of
the six sessions.
3.
Students will be introduced to the purpose of art and art education.
4.
Students will demonstrate an understanding of curriculum planning by developing an
individual curriculum proposal.
5.
Students will participate in historical and analytical applications of study within an. art
curriculum.
COURSE CONTENT:
Goals of new art education curriculum; hands-on approach to learning art processes;
examining and evaluating historical and contemporary art and student projects; and
developing activities for individual teaching situations.
