    ASSIGNMENTS:
    1. Contrast the sound system of English with the sound systems of
    another language in order to be able to anticipate the pronunciation
    difficulties of a student from that language group
    OR
    Compare certain aspects of English syntax (e.g. definite/indefinite
    article or tense) with the syntax of another language in order to
    be able to anticipate some of the errors a student from that language
    group is likely to make.
    2.
    Analyze two textbooks from different series in terms of linguistic/
    psychological influence, methodology and classroom technique.
    Major Paper: Prepare for 15 hours of a course given to a specific group
    of students who are in the classroom for
    3
    hour periods. (You
    may change the time elements depending upon your particular
    situation).
    Textbooks: There are no required textbooks. A reading list will be supplied
    at the beginning of the course.
