PREREQUISITE:

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Although Early Childhood Education is available to all students with 60 hours of credit, it is
a course for educators and others working with young children in educational
environment. Role play, group discussion, readings, audiovisival and curriculum
materials will be used to assit participants to develop definitions of their professional roles
in an early childhood setting, and activities and programs which will promote positive
educational environments for young children.
1. To develop an understanding of the historical and philosophical underpinings to the
theory and practice of Early Childhood Education.
2. To become familiar with resources in Early Childhood Education.
3.
To examine current issues related to Early Childhood Education.
4. To develop child observation skills and strategies.
