COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is a study of theory and practice concerning social development, social interactions, and
relationships in the school context. An emphasis will be on the role of peer relationships, and the role of the
school in supporting positive interactions.
In order to flourish in this course, you will need to be open-minded and attentive to the possibilities when
we understand that the social lives of school children are as important as the social lives of adults. You will
also be asked to read the course texts thoroughly, and to contribute to class discussions in a thoughtful way.
