COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is intended for senior students or practising teachers who
wish to explore the area of school counselling and develop some
counselling skills that can be used ithin a classroom setting. A
combination of lectures, discussion, practice exercises and films
will be used to introduce counselling systems, communication skills
and important issues of school and personal counselling.
OUTLINE OF TOPICS
Topics will include:
• Counselling theories
Classroom climate
Developing your own counselling theory
Classroom teaching as counselling
Role of the school counsellor
Understanding psychological reports
Teacher wellness and burn-out prevention.
