Graduate admissions. enrolments and credentials awarded
Graduate applications increased by 14%; offers by
11 %; and new enrolments by 6.8% in 2009-
10 compared to the previous year 2008-09 (applications 5360; offers 2516; new enrolments
1862). Graduate enrolments were increased by 4.3% to 4656 students from
2009 with 3808
students in degree programs, a 1.80/0 increase. Credentials awarded included 96 Graduate
Diplomas, 842 masters degrees and 136 PhDlEdD, an increase
of3.5% in masters and doctorate
degrees awarded from last year.

Tri-council Scholarship Support
The Vanier Scholarship program only came into effect in
2009 and we currently have 7 Vanier
Scholarship students. In
2009,269 students were receiving tri-council funding as opposed to 244
students in
2009. Total SSHRC awardees totaled 139 as opposed to 114 in 2009. Total CHIR
awardees totaled 23 as opposed to 27 in
2009. SFU had 5 Vanier and 1 Trudeau Scholarship
award winners enrolled. Total NSERC awardees totaled
100 as opposed to 98 in 2009. A greater
number
of students received the higher value CGS-D across all three agencies.

SGSC Appeals Subcommittee
In
2010, the subcommittee considered four appeals of unsatisfactory performance where the
student was required to withdraw. Two appeals were upheld.
In 2009, no appeals were launched.
SGSC Special Arrangements Steering Committee
In
2010, two students were admitted to the program and five graduated. In 2009, three students
were admitted and five graduated. At the end
of2010, 15 students remained registered in this
program.
