Business Arisin
g from the Minutes
A question regarding Spring 2008 undergraduate admissions to the Faculty of Business
Administration had been raised at the previous meeting concerning targets that appeared
to favour international students to the apparent detriment of domestic students. Senate
was advised that enrolment numbers were actually being maintained so the overall
admission balance in the Faculty for both categories had not changed. However, the
different admission numbers were required due to different graduation and continuance
rates.
Report of the Chair
There was no report from the Vice- Chair.

Reference was made to the table on page 2 concerning the information in the current
column versus the information in the proposed column. A question arose as to why only
science-related courses were shown in the proposed column and not other courses such as
Principles of Math 12. It was pointed out that admission requirements now have a
hierarchical structure - University level, Faculty level, and program specific - and that
Senate, at its last meeting, approved (in Senate paper S.07-61) the University level and
the Faculty level requirements, and these are the additional program specific
requirements beyond the two previous sets of requirements. Since the other two levels
were already dealt with, only the program specific requirements were shown.
Senate was assured that this motion did not affect the Faculty level requirement for
Principles of Math 12. [Secretary's note: Principles of Mathematics 12 applies to all
admissions to the Faculty
of
Applied Sciences, except for admission to the School of
Communication.]
Question was called, and a vote taken. ?
