On July 25, 1978 the Board approved motion that a Search Committee for a
Vice-President Academic be established consisting of:- (a) the President as
Chairman; (b) the Vice-President Administration; (c) two Deans selected by the
Deans; (d) four faculty members elected by and from faculty members (one from
each Faculty); (e) one undergraduate student elected by and from the undergraduate
student body; (f) one graduate student elected by and from the graduate student
body; (g) the President of the Faculty Association; (h) the President of the
Student Forum. There was provision that the Search Committee establish its
operating procedures.
On recommendation by the Faculty of Arts, Senate and the Board in November 1978
approved some change to item (d) for future committees, namely that (d) read
"four faculty members, one elected by and from each Faculty". The Faculties then
were Arts, Education, Interdisciplinary Studies, Science.
Since that time there has been establishment of two Faculties, one large
Business Administration, one very small Engineering Science. As the previous
wording is not compatible with the present circumstances change is recommended
but only where required.
MOTION:
"That the Search Committee for a Vice-President Academic consist of:-
(a)
the President as chairman
(b)
the vice-President Administration
(c)
three Deans selected by the Deans
(d)
faculty members, one elected by and from each of the Faculties -
of Arts, of Business Administration, of Education, of Interdisciplinary
Studies, of Science at present five
(e)
one undergraduate student elected by and from the undergraduate
student body
(f)
one graduate student elected by and from the graduate student body
(g)
the President of the Faculty Association
(h)
3he President of the Student Society.
The Search Committee will establish its operating procedures."
It is intended that this committee be established now to begin its work as
soon as elections are completed.
It is proposed that this item in the form .approved by the Board be placed
before Senate for approval at its meeting of February 6.
