Subject: Referendum

Date: 18 September 1989

It has come to my attention that there is no formal provision

in the terms of reference of the two curriculum committees in the

Faculty enabling them to delegate a sub-set of the powers of the

committee to a duly elected sub-committee. In cases of student

appeals it is important that these committees can elect a sub-

committee, empower it to investigate the case, and make a final

decision which it will then report to the committee.

Any change in the terms of reference of either committee

requires approval of the Faculty and Senate. By way of the

attached referendum I am seeking your approval to change the

terms of reference for the Faculty committees.
