In reviewing the minutes of the meeting of October 3, 1990, it was the

opinion of the Senate Committee on Agenda and Rules that, while Senate

had received a report from the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Science

as to the state of discussions between the School of Engineering Science

and the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, the usual path for

consideration of questions of this nature is from the Departments (Schools,

Faculties) through to the Senate Graduate Studies Committee, and so it was

the opinion of SCAR that this Committee should receive a report on the

status of the discussions and any resulting decisions.

Motion:

"that the report requested by Senate from the School of

Engineering Science and the Department of Mathematics and

Statistics relating to the introduction of some new courses

within the curriculum of the new Ph.D. Program in Engineering
